Topic: Smart Rheology

Abstract: There is a constant demand to improve the performance of architectural coatings throughout the world, even in the face of more strict VOC regulations. Formulators are challenged to maintain certain performance parameters such as consistent rheology with changing latex types. In the field of associative thickeners, recent technologies have been developed to yield improved rheology profile over a broader range of latex types. This can be done without negative impact on other properties such as syneresis or color development. “Smart Rheology” consists of new techniques and products for use in latex trade sales paint. Fundamental thickener design and application properties will be discussed.
