NWSCT September 2011 Newsletter
Our October meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 11th from 11:30 - 1:30 at Valspar R&D (1028 South 3rd Street, Minneapolis MN, 55415). The cost of this meeting will be $15 per person if paid on our website using PayPal by Friday, October 7th and $20 if paid thereafter. This month's talk will feature Dante Battocchi, Associate Director, from Center for Surface Protection
North Dakota State University and the topic of his talk will be "Center for Surface Protection, Corrosion and Coatings at NDSU."
He will be presenting the center’s organization and capabilities as well as a collection of results of the projects, they conduct with their private sector partners.
Dante Battocchi, Dr. Engineering, received a doctor degree in materials engineering from the University of Trento in Trento, Italy, and a master’s degree in polymers and coatings from NDSU. He is the Associate Director of the NDSU Center for Surface Protection, a research center in which the university partners with private sector companies to do material research. He is also an Adjunct Professor in the NDSU Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials where he serves as technical manager in the durable hybrid coatings program. Battocchi’s work includes development and optimization of magnesium-rich primer for chromate-free protection of aluminum alloys, as well as electrochemical analysis and characterization of protective coatings. His published work includes articles in journals such as Corrosion Science, Journal of Electrochemical Society, Progress in Organic Coatings and numerous conference proceedings. He previously served as an agent with the Italian State Police.

Limited amount of visitor spots are available at the lot in front of the 1101 S 3rd Street (Old Admin Building, or you may have to pay to park at a meter. Most of the meters around the buildings run 25 cents per hours, so bring quarters in case you need to park at a meter.
