February Meeting

The meeting on Tuesday, February 12th (11:30am-1:30pm) will be held at Sherwin Williams facility in Minneapolis, MN (1028 South 3rd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415 MAP). The technical presentation is titled An Introduction to the Manufacture and Properties of Titanium Dioxide Pigments and will be presented by John M. Kelly of Venator. The meeting will include lunch which the cost is $18 for members and $20 for non-members if registration is made by Friday, February 8th ($20/$25 if registering later).

Speaker biography:
In 2015, John joined Venator as White Pigments - Technical Support Manager, Americas. In his present role, John serves as primary technical support for the Venator coatings/plastics segment sales team and is based at Venator's US corporate office (The Woodlands, TX). Before joining Venator, John's career has been a series of plastic compounding and manufacturing roles with GE Plastics, 3M, Celanese, and Technetics Group. John earned his MSc, Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University and MBA from NYIT.

Why TiO2 is the preferred white pigment for architectural and industrial coatings applications.

The TiO2 methods of manufacture (i.e. Chloride vs. Sulfate Process)
Commercially available TiO2 crystal types (i.e. rutile, anatase)
TiO2 surface treatments for enhanced dispersion and durability
