HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Our last meeting was held at Jax Cafe where our featured speaker was Mitch Halpert of Huber Engineered Materials.  He talked about "Kaolin clay and other extenders."  Even with the background music this was a very informative talk.  There were approximately 25 people in attendance for this presentation.  If you have any questions for Mitch please feel free to e-mail him at mitch.halpert@huber.com.

Our next meeting is a lunchtime meeting at HB Fuller in Vadnais Heights.  Please RSVP to Bonnie Gauderman at 651-236-5850 or bonnie.gauderman@hbfuller.com by January 3, 2008.  This talk will feature Dr. David P. Dumbleton of Atlas Material Testing LLC.  David's topic will be "An Overview of Environmental Durability of Materials."  The focus of this talk will be primarily on polymeric materials, as they are the most common focus of the testing and developing work they do at Atlas.  Some of the highlights of the talk are understanding the meaning of aging / weathering; why do our materials fail; the testing methodologies they us at Atlas; what can Atlas do for you; understanding accelerated aging and correlation with reality.  Dr. David P. Dumbleton comes with years of experience; he is a native of Wisconsin and has worked in the web materials (polymers, paper and foil) and packaging for many years all around the world.

- Winter Outing:  The Annual Winter Outing is scheduled for February 15th to 17th at the Cragun’s Resort.  A flyer is on the website (www.nwsct.org) on the Events & Outings page; please print off a copy and send it into Ron Chock.  Thanks to Ron Chock and Robin Norcutt for arranging this event!
