NWSCT November 2012 Newsletter
Our first meeting of the year was conducted at Cortec on November 13th. Thanks to all of the people at Cortec for hosting us. The speaker was Sel Avci of Elementis Specialties who presented a talk on the selection of rheology modifiers for waterborne coatings. Members can obtain a copy of this presentation by e-mailing a request to berickson@gmzinc.com.
Our next meeting of the 2012-2013 NWSCT year will be held on Tuesday, December 11th from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm at HB Fuller, B Building located at 1200 Willow Lake Blvd, Vadnais Heights, MN (click here for campus map). This meeting includes lunch and the cost will be $15 per person for members and $20 per person for non-members if paid on our website using PayPal by Friday, December 7th and $20/$25 if paid thereafter. Please contact Wally Kesler (wkesler@valspar.com) if you plan to attend the meeting but will not be paying via PayPal so that we can get an accurate head count for lunch.
This month's talk will feature a discussion on "HAZCOM 2012 - Implementing the GHS in the US, (now what do I have to do?)". With impending changes in the classification, labeling and MSDS preparation for chemicals we will address the GHS topic. Presenting will be Anita Boldt from HB Fuller.
Anita has been employed by H.B. Fuller for 30 years in Analytical, IT, EHS and Product Regulatory roles. Currently she works in H.B. Fuller's Global Regulatory group with responsibility for MSDS and label authoring, product health and safety communications and customer support. Anita is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, the Society for Chemical Hazard Communication and the American Industrial Hygiene Association, Upper Midwest Section. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from the University of MN.
