November 2015 Newsletter

Our November monthly meeting was held at HB Fuller and featured a presentation from Stuart Lipskin of Byk USA titled “Pursuit for the Perfect Coatings Finish”. Thanks again to HB Fuller for hosting us.

Our monthly meetings are typically held on the second Tuesday of the month from October – April. Our next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 8th at Multi-Clean in Shoreview. They are located at 600 Cardigan Road; Shoreview, MN 55126. Presenting to us is Rebecca Ortiz of Dow Chemical, who will discuss Isocyanate-free Polyurethane Coatings. The meeting will start at 11:30 am and include lunch. We will wrap up by 1:30 pm.

Please note: Due to space limitations there is only room for 24 attendees for the December meeting. Spots will be filled on a first come first served basis. We will post a notice on our website when all of these openings have been filled.

The cost for the meeting is $15 for members and $20 for non-members if registration is made by Friday, December 4th ($20/$25 if registering later). Please contact Eric Scholl (scholl.e@minutemanintl.com) if you plan to attend the meeting but will not be paying via PayPal so that we can get an accurate head count for lunch. Membership

Our Membership registration is wrapping up for the new year (September – August). You can follow the link to our membership page and fill out an application to join or renew. Individual Memberships are $25 per year and Corporate Memberships are available ($100 for 4-9 people; $200 for 10-19 people and $400 for 20-29 people). Members receive discounted rates for monthly meetings and have access to electronic copies of presentations provided to the NWSCT.

Passing

We are sad to announce the passing of two long time members of the local coatings industry.

Jack Eriksen, who founded Viking Paints in Richfield, passed away on October 14th at age 94. He was an MP in the US Army in WWII and later founded his company in 1964.

Tony Graff, who as National Sales Manager for RT Vanderbilt, passed unexpected on October 3rd at age 55. He and his family were residing in Cedarburg, WI.

Tuesday, January 12th: Monthly Meeting at Tennant. Elementis Specialties and Philadelphia Mixing will present.
Tuesday, February 9th: Monthly Meeting at 3M. Q-Lab and 3M will present.
Tuesday, March 8th: Monthly Meeting at BASF. Clariant will present.
Tuesday, April 19th: Annual Education Symposium at Valspar.

We will also host a Winter Outing and Texas Hold Em Tournament in early '16.

Scholarship Program

We have launched a Scholarship program that will award individual scholarships to the son or daughter of an active member of the NWSCT in good standing. Applications are available at monthly meetings and on our website.
