NWSCT October 2010 Newsletter
Our October meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 19th from 11:30 - 1:30 at Valspar R&D (312 South 11th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55415). The cost of this meeting will be $25 per person if paid on our website using PayPal by Friday, October 15th and $30 if paid thereafter. This month's talk will feature Ryan Alleman, Sales Director, from Lehigh Technologies and the topic of his talk will be "Fine Rubber Powders made from End Of Life Tires."
For the first time available on a commercial scale, Lehigh Technologies produces very fine rubber powders from end of life tires for the specialty chemical market's use. These powders are employed as functioning fillers to lower costs and gain physical properties in industrial coating systems as well as in plastic and rubber compounds. At successful loadings of 5% - 20%, fine rubber powders have proven to offer cost savings, increased flexibility, tensile strength, and sound dampening. It also affords the user the opportunity to market a "green" approach with their products as it is 100% post consumer content. The presentation will demonstrate how engineered rubber powders can generate cost efficiencies, enhance the performance of existing products and lead to innovative new products.
Ryan Alleman is the Sales Director for the coatings, asphalt and construction materials division with Lehigh Technologies and brings nearly 20 years of technical and management expertise to his efforts in setting up and developing Lehigh's Coatings segment. Ryan holds a degree in chemistry and business. His background includes various sales, project and business management positions with Ciba Specialty Chemicals.
