October 2019 Meeting Meetings are typically held the second Tuesday, October-April. October Meeting The meeting on Tuesday, October 8th (11:30am-1:30pm) will be held at Cortec Corporation in White Bear Lake, MN (4119 White Bear Pkwy, St Paul, MN 55110 MAP). There will be two technical presentations at this meeting that lunch will be provided at a cost of $18 for NWSCT members and $20 for non-members if registration is made by/before Friday, October 4th ($20/$25 if registering later). The first topic is Measuring Mechanical Properties of Coatings and will be presented by Rahul Nair (Product Specialist at Fischer Technology, Inc.). The second topic is Post-Add Solutions to Enhance Color Strength and Acceptance with Additives that will be presented by Allison Abbey (Technical Service Chemist at Borchers). Speaker biographies: Rahul Nair has a Master’s in mechanical engineering specializing in contact mechanics at the nanoscale. He currently manages the Coating Mechanical Testing product line at Fischer Technology, Inc. He works with the R&D and global business development team for the product line. He has authored and co-authored several technical papers in this field. Allison Abbey came to Borchers in January 2019, with experience in automotive OEM coatings, with emphasis on color formulation. Prior to this role, Allison worked with PPG in multiple divisions including booth maintenance, technical service for Toyota North America, and new color development. Currently, Allison works as a Technical Service Chemist for Borchers out of their headquarters in Westlake, Ohio, USA. Allison received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Seton Hill University and Master of Business Administration Degree from Baldwin Wallace University.
Scholarship Program We have launched a Scholarship program that will award individual scholarships to an active member of the NWSCT in good standing OR the son, daughter OR grandchild of an active member of the NWSCT in good standing. Applications are available at monthly meetings and on our website (Scholarship Program page). The deadline to register is May 1st.
